Western Novellas
So I've visited a really cool local used bookstore here where I live and I've discovered some gems in the basement sections! There are thousands of books in this store, but in the basement there are tons of mass market books that are less than $3/book, sometimes as low as $0.83/book! I read my first ever Western novella, The Hanging of Father Miguel, by Margaret Armen in several hours and am in love with this genre and especially this book!
I discovered after reading it that it is the only book written by Margaret Armen, who was previously a Hollywood film writer who was behind many TV shows (including Bonanza and Star Trek). It was one of her last works after retiring from the film industry, written in 1989. She was a legend in my opinion, and her intended sequal novella, The Vengeance of Father Miguel, was never published, as Margaret passed away before completion.
It is my hope that people will rediscover this Western masterpiece.
